Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does Not Smell The Same I have been using this oil since the 70s . I use other fragrances but always go back to purchasing this, I love the musk body lotion and this combined. I just purchased both over the weekend and returned the oil. This does not smell the same. I thought maybe my body chemistry changed but after reading these reviews I think not. I did purchase the roller-ball want to see if this still has the incredible and to me intoxicating scent I remember from so long ago.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from STILL THE ORIGINAL SCENT TO ME! I don't understand how these critics are saying the scent has changed. I have been using Kiehl's Musk for at least 25 years, or more, and have not noticed any change in the way it smells. As a matter of fact, my grandson said, just the other day, "I love the oil you wear, and every time I smell anything similar, I say, "That smells just like my Nana!" I will never stop using your Musk - I love it!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Must Concur I have been a Kiehl's customer since 1972 and the reviews about the change in musk oil are correct. Unfortunately. I imagine the original product(s) needed have become too costly or hard to mass produce, but if I could purchase a special order of the REAL Original Musk oil I would pay the additional charge. Please advise. Thank you

Rated 1 out of 5 by from PLEASE MAKE THIS OIL WITH THE ORIGINAL FORMULA I have been regualry wearing this musk for 10 years. I have one new bottle left from an online purchase I made in April 2017. Today, I went into a store to compare. Without a doubt, this musk oil is a different product than it used to be. The new formula is much lighter and sweeter than the original. The texture is the oil is thinner than the original. Why is this product not sold as an “updated” or “new” formula?? Do you intend on changing back the original formula? Please be honest.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Different, yes. Terrible, no. So before I go any further I have been wearing this fragrance for the past fifteen years and yes, it is different. No amount of messages from Kiehls saying "Please know there has not been a change to this scent" is going to convince me. I still have a bottle of the old stuff and a bottle of the new stuff and it is different. The oil is thinner, does seem to have a bit less scent to it and a slightly sweeter smell. SO there's the bad. Here is the good. Slightly less scent is not that big of a deal, it's not like this stuff was the stinkiest stuff in the world before. It's why so many of us wear it. I don't like smelling like I just got hosed down with overpowering fragrance. We all know that guy, nobody likes him. It still smells great, I still get comments daily and I will continue to buy it. FYI, if you want a stronger smell, pair it with the body wash or the moisturizer and you're good to go.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointing I bought the oil based perfume to go with the shower gel and body lotion, for an oil based perfume it is surprisingly weak and does not seem to last. The roller ball applicator does not allow much out either. When I bought it the spray which is more popular was out of stock. I wonder whether you get more of a back note hit with that one? I read some reviews from people who had used the kiehl's on musk before who said they thought the formula has been changed and I think they must be right. The oshower gel and body lotion are still good though.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from WHAT HAPPENED TO MUSK OIL It would really be great to get an honest answer on why the original musk oil is now a watered down version and all the other oils were discontinued. It is so insulting that all the complaints are answered with a generic line. All these people can't be wrong, I know I'm not. I wore the musk and cucumber for over 30 years so I know. I think people would be willing to pay more if that's what it took but to be constantly condescended to is beyond annoying. I have spoken to a rep on the phone who also read a script assuring me that nothing has changed. Nobody is fooled .................

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The mystery of the missing original musk essence oil Decades ago, Kiehl’s discontinued my signature scent, (Moroccan) Jasmine essence oil...since then, I bought the Original Musk Essence Oil. Which became my (second) signature scent. Unfortunately, unlike the Original Musk Essence Oil of days past, the scent does not last all day, no more than a few hours. Plus, there’s a stronger floral top note that was mostly absent in the Original Musk. What Kiehl’s/Loreal has touted as the using the same essence oil is counter to how pure essence oils work with one’s individual body chemistry and body heat. In the past I would dab the Original Musk on certain pulse points in the morning and would never need to re-apply it. It is obvious to many of your long-time customers that an inferior essence oil is being used. And is an example that the high level of quality is now lacking (in this particular product line)

I am a huge fan of Egyptian Musk. And have tried so many versions of it. Is this supposed to be Kielhls version of it?

I have literally tried dozens upon dozens of versions of this unique fragrance. It’s become a hobby of mine and an obsession. Some how my search has lead me here. I really hope someone has the answer and can help me. Thank you. Mike

I am looking for a 1960's type scent, pure musk essence oil spray or cologne for my husband, not a roller applicator; where is this product on your website? Can you advice me please?
