WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SQUALANE AND SQUALENE?
While they are related, Squalane and Squalene are not identical. Squalane is the hydrogenated form of Squalene. Squalene is naturally occurring in our bodies and makes up around 13% of the skin’s sebum, helping to protect the skin’s barrier and seal in moisture. In our moisturizing cream, we derive the same skin benefits from Squalane, which is stable against heat and oxidation making it ideal for skincare formulations.
HOW IS THE SQUALANE IN ULTRA FACIAL CREAM SOURCED?
Squalane can be derived from several different natural resources. In our moisturizing cream, we use Squalane derived from olives and sugar cane. Kiehl’s never formulates with animal-derived Squalane.

Kiehl’s does not formulate with parabens, our moisturizing cream is paraben-free, fragrance-free, mineral oil-free, dye-free, and TEA-free.
