Can someone explain this product to me? Do I use this as a wash? Pre-wash? Daily?
Kenneth S on Sep 5, 2016
Best Answer: I use it alone and I think that is how it is meant to be used, but you could certainly use it as a pre-wash, if you want. You can definitely use it daily. You put it on your face while it is still dry and massage it in, like you would any cleanser. Then you wet your hands and rub your face and the oil turns a little milky. It rinses cleanly, but you won't get a squeaky clean feeling. I have normal to dry skin and it leaves my skin soft, smooth, and moisturized, and not oily at all.

Is it all natural?
spark61617 on Sep 7, 2016
Best Answer: It doesn't appear to be, given ingredients like polyglyceryl-10 dioleate and isopropyl lauroyl sarcosinate, among others. I am not a chemist, though, so some of these ingredients may be naturally-derived and I wouldn't know. Perhaps a Kiehl's representative can provide more information.

Hey brotendo, should I use this along with a facial cleanser at night?
A shopper on Sep 4, 2016
Best Answer: I don't use another cleanser after this. I use one pump to remove my eye makeup, rinse off, pat dry, then I take another pump or two to do my whole face and I follow with my night serums, oil, creams, eye stuff... the whole routine. Tip: Don't wet your face before, apply oil directly and watch everything come off.

Can I use this with my Clarisonic?
Catherine T on Sep 1, 2016
Best Answer: I personally wouldn't use any cleansing oils with my clarisonic. What I do is cleanse with the oil (to remove makeup including eye makeup) first then use the clarisonic with a non-oil cleanser like the Ultra Facial Wash or Calendula facial wash to get anything else I missed. They call it double-cleansing.

How do you use? Do you use a cotton pad and go over your face or rub it in the palm of your hand and apply like normal face wash them rinse off?
A shopper on Sep 18, 2016
Best Answer: I pump 3x into the palm of my hand and rub together, applying it in circular motions to dry skin. Once I've evening distributed it I rinse my hands with water and then begin rubbing my face/neck again wth wet hands. The oil begins to turn white and I continue to do this until I feel I've thoroughly got everything. Then I rinse and pat dry with a towel. I always use a toner on a cotton pad afterwards and am always surprised that there is no makeup residue! It really does work great!

Can I use this to clean eye makeup?
A shopper on Sep 7, 2016
Best Answer: Yes! I use this every night. I use one pump and apply it all over my face to remove my makeup. I used a second pump to remove my eye makeup. Just keep gently rubbing it, you'll look like a raccoon, then splash some warm water and keep massaging like you would with any cleanser. Keep splashing water and rinse it off. EVERYTHING comes off, Pat dry and follow with your pm serums, oil and creams. I love it!

Should the Midnight Recovery Cleansing Oil be used in addition to or in place of the Midnight Recovery Concentrate?
Todd B on Sep 10, 2016
Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil
Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil
Midnight Recovery Concentrate
Midnight Recovery Concentrate
Best Answer: I use both. In fact, I also use the Midnight Recovery Eye. I absolutely love that entire line! I start with the cleansing oil to remove makeup, follow it up with Recovery Eye, then the concentrate, and I last apply the Super Multi Corrective Anti-Aging Cream. It may be overkill, but I am 40 and my skin looks great. The oil gets absorbed very quickly so it doesn't feel greasy at all. The key is using very moderate amounts.

Does it remove waterproof makeup?
A shopper on Sep 7, 2016
Best Answer: Saturate your face with the oil, then give it a minute to break up and any makeup will literally just wipe away, cleaning oils are awesome!

What is the directions on how to use the midnight recovery botanical cleansing oil?
A shopper on Dec 31, 2016
Best Answer: You rub the oil onto a DRY face. (Don't wet your face first like you normally would with a normal cleanser.) Rub the oil onto a dry face and then using warm water wash the oil off. The oil turns into a milky cleanser once wet. It's the best way to remove make-up! No tugging on your eyes. It's very gentle. These kinds of cleansers are often called a "pre-wash" or part of a "double-cleanse" as they do not clean deeply. It's suggested to follow up with a deeper cleanser if you have acne concerns, although it works fine on it's on. It's main purpose for me is make-up removal and gentle cleansing. I would definitely recommend it.

is this going to have the same effect as the concentrate?
A shopper on Oct 17, 2016
Best Answer: The cleansing oil is for cleansing; it gets rinsed off-works really well at getting makeup off, leaves skin feeling clean and soft. The midnight recovery concentrate is a skin conditioner-a teeny bit goes a long way-smooth it into your skin-I use it at night, and use the daily reviving concentrate during the day before I put on any makeup or sunscreen.
Hope this helps to answer your question. I love kiehl's products!

Are you able to use this product with a Clarisonic?
Samantha on Sep 30, 2016
Best Answer: I don't know, honestly. But I doubt it. The product is truly an oil and I don't think the consistency (which does not lather up) would be ideal for a clarisonic.
Having said that, as someone who loves my clarisonic, this is a lovely change to my cleansing routine and a nice treat after a long day at work. Highly recommend :)

Best Answer: I use it both during the day and night. It is very light and does not leave your skin oily at all. I really love it at night because all and I mean all of your make up will be removed with one wash.

A shopper on Dec 14, 2016
Best Answer: I think it would be ok for all types of skin, unless you have an acne problem or too oily skin, there maybe it would be better to use other type of cleanser.
Regarding sensitivity issues, Khiels is in general very good in all type of skins, even the sensitive ones, this is in my experience.

How do you use this product?
Bailey H on Oct 5, 2016
Best Answer: I use it like any other cleanser, but I don't wet my face first. If you have time, take a warm wet washcloth and put it over your face after you rub on the oil to open your pores; when it cools off, gently wipe your face. This stuff gets rid of makeup, dirt, and grime and leaves a wonderful rose scent behind. If you're following a Korean-type method, you can follow the cleansing oil with another cleanser (I like the Ultra Facial Cleanser), but I don't generally find it necessary.

How do you use it?? Instructions?
A shopper on Feb 4, 2017
Best Answer: I pump 2-3 pumps into clean dry hands and in together. Then I apply to dry skin (over any makeup that's on my face for the day) in a circular motion (literally like washing your face with oil). It completely breaks up all your makeup and it will start to run, then I rinse my hands and with the water left on my hands "wash" my face for about 15 seconds. The oil will turn white. Then rinse like normal. I love this cleanser. I go over my face with toner afterwards and am always surprised that I have no makeup residue.

can i use this both morning and night?
A shopper on Jan 16, 2017
Best Answer: I think it depends on your routine in the morning and your type of skin, is oil, as the name states, I remove it with a wet wipe towel and it works fine for me, but it leaves an oily skin, I use it at night to remove the makeup and not wash my face, and then I put a night cream, I haven't used it at morning because I wash my face in the mornings. Honestly I wouldn't use it in the morning, the oily layer is too much for me.
For night, is wonderful.

Can I use this with my Clarsonic?
Paula T on Jan 9, 2017
Best Answer: This cleanser does not foam at all as it is oil based, so I would avoid using this with a clarisonic. I massage this onto my dry face in order to remove makeup. Once all of the product on my face is broken down, I use a damp, warm wash cloth to wipe my makeup away. The oil really breaks down my stubborn waterproof concealer and mascara. After all of my makeup is removed, I then wash my face with the Daily Facial Cleanser to get it nice a and squeaky clean.

Best Answer: This amazing little gem is used just as you would use any facial cleanser while washing your face. Simply wet your face with warm water, use one little pump of the oil, apply to your face - your normal routine style - and rinse. It will take off the grime and make-up and leave your skin silky smooth.

Why does this irritate my eyes and not my skin?
A shopper on Oct 11, 2016
Best Answer: Your skin is designed to protect against a hostile environment. There are many layers of dead skin and oils and dermal layers. Your eyes are a sensitive instrument with much fewer protective layers.
Meaning, it's not made to be put into your eyeballs.
