I love this BB cream. It is perfect when I am in a hurry and don't have time for a full face routine. I have redness on my cheeks and this works perfectly to even out my skin tone. It also protects & hydrates my skin. Love love this product.
Feels light on the face, but very good coverage for a BB cream. I have very sensitive skin and usually break out with any SPF ingredients, but have had no breakouts using this almost daily for the last year.
I love this BB cream!! It was great coverage while also feeling light on my skin. The SPF is a huge perk too, making me feel like my skins protected all day long. The dewy look is especially great as well.
I'm confused about BB creams.......do you use them in place of foundation? Do you use after your moisturizer? I would love to try the Kiehl's BB cream. I've been satisfied with other product purchases in the past.

Best Answer:hi i just started using it and all i apply is the BB cream. no need for cover up. my skin looks very good. and it looks like i have a tan which is nice.
Best Answer:I'm a fair skinned redhead, complete with freckles and I love the color. It gives me a sun kissed glow that makes me look like I've been in the sun, without the harsh blending lines. So us say its perhaps a bit darker than it seems in the computer monitor.
BB Cream is a new experience for me. I ordered the light and it becomes darker once it has been applied to my face. It is my understanding that more colors are soon to be available. The SPF 50 is one of the essential aspects of this BB Cream to protect and continue to keep my skin youthful. I am 56 and enjoy having skin that looks much younger. Yea! Hope my input to your question was helpful.
Best Answer:I just tried a very small amount on my face. I found it made my skin very dry. I have tried other BB creams & found them good. Could it be the Vitamin C in the product that causes the dryness, I think it is possible! Having used Kiehl's Ultra Facial Tinted Moisturizer for some time, I am hoping Kiehl's will bring it back, as the new BB cream is just not for me. By the way, I have quite good "normal to dry combination" " senior" skin
I tried a very small amount of the BB on my face. I found it to very drying on my skin. Could it be the Vitamin C,? it is possible!. I have tried a few other BB brands with no side effects. I love the Ultra Facial Moisturizer & hope that Kiehl's will bring it back. I have normal to dry combination considered good "senior" skin if that helps!
While it does not specify the exact concentration, it took them almost 2 years to figure out how to keep such a potent concentration of vitamin C without disrupting the efficacy of the other ingredients (Vitamin C has a tendency to not play well with others). The natural mineral pigments (available in four shades) are water-resistant and have UVA/UVB protectors and the application itself is smooth and absorbs seamlessly into the skin without leaving a caked-on or oily finish. The only complaint I have is that even the lightest shade they make is much too dark for me. I wish they would come out with a version that has half the color of the lightest shade and it would be perfect. As is, I just use it very sparingly and mix it with sunblock for under my eyes and along my jaw and neckline.
First of all, this is one super product!, a light foundation with skin help including VitaminC....which is critical as an antioxidant in skin protection and skin rejuvenation. I have used vitamin C serum on my face for several years and it does make a difference.....just started using this BB cream with a super SPF...and I am very pleased.
Best Answer:This should be perfectly fine with acne prone skin. Obviously, do not cake it on, but rather put a thin layer to help cover. The skin correcting and vitamin C aspect will help to calm the acne and help eliminate the acne marks or redness you may have.
Best Answer:This is a BB cream; I purchased the color medium and it blends well - my skin is fairly light (dark blonde hair, blue eyes) and when I first opened the bottle I thought the color was going to be too dark - it wasn't, it actually was perfect. I love the cream, it has good coverage, lasts all day - all I do is use a loose powder on top of the cream and my skin looks great. I have received compliments and just started using the cream!
This is a BB cream (beauty balm). I got the Light color and it suits me perfectly, I am fair-skinned and prefer more pale shades and the Light shade is natural. The difference between a BB and a CC cream, to my understanding, is that a CC cream is lighter and geared towards oily or acne-prone skin. Kiehl's BB cream has a great consistency and isn't heavy at all.
what is a natural color? It depends on your own skin color;: I have the BB cream in 'light' and it blends perfectly with my fair skin. It has great coverage plus sunblock . It is not orange or too pink for me so to me it looks natural.
I'm returning this right away...What I look for in a BB cream is for it to go on a little matte and a lot of coverage. This BB cream feels more like a heavily tinted moisturizer, which means no coverage! I am Asian, so I chose the Medium color, since there are only 2 choices, but the color was godawful!!! I LOVE Kiehl's, but I wish they will just stick to what they're good for and not branch out into makeup... totally disappointed.
The BB Cream has SPF of 50. So I do not use an additional sunscreen. I would be concerned, even, to add additional sunscreen since this product is great along with the other products available from this company at a terrific price for the quality.
Best Answer:I don't know how dark your complexion is, but if you've a tan/medium complexion w/ minor sun spots like me, the medium BB Cream might work for you (I'd try it in a Kiehl's store to be sure). I have the BB Cream in medium, and my haole (white!) skin responds well to the BB Cream as it is fairly light and you can 'build' the amount you'd like re coverage. The BB Cream lightly covers my sun spots and helps even out my tan/reddish nose.
My only worry is that my continual struggle w/ hot flashes will make the BB Cream drip off or not adhere when I'm 'moist' from having a raised body temp.! Jury's still out re IF I can even use the product on an upcoming trip to NC in the humidity/heat...And here in No. Calif. it gets really hot in the summer, so time will tell if it works for me in the extreme weather.
Hope that helped answer your question - I'd seriously try it in the store to see if it works w/ your skin tone. The sunscreen is an added bonus!
I would not say it is just for white people. Just order a darker shade that matches close your skin. This product is wonderful and does correct skin imperfections. I have tried many of the BB products on the market and this one is the best.
Best Answer:It is not a complete coverage cream so getting exactly the right color is not as important as it is with some other products. If you can't get to the store to try it out, go with what you would normally go with in terms of light/medium/dark in drugstore brands. If you are a transitional person (in between light/medium), I would go with the lighter in the winter months and the darker in the summer months. Again, very light coverage, you can be a little off.
Best Answer:I honestly don't know...sorry! But it's great coverage for a tinted moisturizer. I'd email or call Kiehl's directly. However, I break out extremely easily and Kiehl's is the only line that doesn't make me break out. Good luck!
Best Answer:I had previously used the tinted moisturizer and purchased the same color in this product. If I did not have experience with other Kiehl's tinted face products I would have made my best guess based on customer reviews because I am too impatient to wait for the samples! I love this product so much and was really surprised that I was able to wear it during the humid northeast summer. It help up so well I am almost out and need to reorder. So much for thinking it would be my fall/winter product!
Best Answer:BB is an acronym for Beauty Balm. It is not makeup per se; however it can be used like foundation if it provides enough coverage for the individual using it. Since we don't all have the same skin type and goals, our usage may vary. Personally, I use it like a tinted moisturizer because I don't wear makeup on a day to day basis. It does provide pretty good coverage though. It does not require a specific makeup remover, but should come off fine when you wash your face before going to bed. I use Kiehls' Ultra Facial Cleanser and it removes the BB cream just fine (in addition to any other makeup I may be wearing). Overall it's a great product and I love the coverage and simplicity it provides.
I haven't had any problems with break outs. But I do wash it off at night using a gentle face cleanser. It has tint, so it would rub off on your pillow. I like it better than the tinted moisturizer since I get 'more' for each application (more spf).
Are you African-American? I am caucasian and medium to light complexion. I got the fair/light (level 2), but may try the light (level 3) next time. The fair/light is almost too light for me. I would think the medium (level 4) would be right for you.
Best Answer:I've been using the BB cream for about a week and have been surprised that it washes off easily with my regular face cleanser. I thought it would be heavy or greasy, but it's not. It's pretty thick, but it smoothes over my face beautifully and leaves a nice glow. Hope that helps!
I use the ultra facial cleanser to wash my face at night i also use the bb cream and my face feels clean after I wash it off with the ultra facial cleanser. The BBcream is just a tinted moisturizer it's not heavy like a foundation so it's easy to remove with a normal cleanser.
Best Answer:Though this bb cream is kind of heavy feeling on my skin(combination), I use it after my skincare routine, that means after toner, serum and cream. I would like to use it as an alternative of sunscreen+ base+ foundation rather than skin care product. Finish with thin loose powder can give it a more natural matte look.
I have not tried using an anti - aging creme under it. Sounds like a good idea as long as it did not interfere with the sunscreen protection. The product is great. It goes on so smoothly and stays on even when you perspire!
I use it with the Cryste Marine as a moisturizing base and I find it works well. When I use it by itself, it does provide denser (tint) coverage, but I like the light effect of it on top of another moisturizer.
Best Answer:Physical, but zinc is not one of the active ingredients so it is not pasty at all. I love this product! Wish it came in a larger size. Great SPF protection and the best is it evens out your skin tone.
Any SPF over 10 is a chemical SPF. I am very particular in using all natural ingredients. I have to wear one with SPF because of a malignant melanoma mole and lost my right cheek. I love this product and it doesn't take much at all to give you good coverage. I will continue to use it even though the SPF is man made by chemicals. And, I have been getting a lot of compliments lately on how good I look. It must be doing something. Never thought of it till now. Thank you for asking me this question. Be sure and watch the video it helped me. By the way, I am 58 and looking better every day.
I love kiehl's products - but what about BB cream for darker skins?
A shopper on May 15, 2013
Best Answer:I am Japanese and my father is from southern Japan, so my skin has a darker and slight yellow tone. I bought the Medium shade BB cream and it works just fine. I imagine the light shade will be too light for me.
It is hard to describe, but it does not tint your skin as much as it coats it. You may have to use a concealer if you have darker spots, but it does give your skin an even tone.
Best Answer:I think that the coverage is less than you would normally have in a foundation. I am using a shade that is a little bit darker than I would normally buy for myself. I am pleased since this should also work this summer when I get a little extra color on my face.
When I bought my BB cream, there were only two shade choices--light and medium. I usually buy the light shade in make-up, but based on another reviewer's comment, I went with the medium. I'm glad I did. It is perfect on my skin. I think the light would have been too light for me.
When i purchased there were only two shades available. I took a chance on the med and it was perfect. There were no samples to try in April but maybe now there are. The return policy is great so if you are not happy for any reason you get you money back. Hope this helps!
is this more like a moisturiser, light foundation or concealer? I'd like to ask the sequence in which I should apply the different things on my face ie after cleansing, toning and treating (I use clearly corrective), what comes after? this BB cream, primer and foundation.
A shopper on Apr 1, 2014
Best Answer:I actually use this as my foundation and don't use primer with it. I cleanse, tone, and moisturize and then use just the BB Cream. However, I have very even, smooth skin and like the somewhat sheer look. I do occasionally use a more opaque concealer around my eyes or if I have a red spot.
I use BB cream as a light foundation--so I put on moisturizer and primer before I apply BB Cream; also use a light setting powder afterward. To get the right shade, I mix a drop or two of fair and fair/light in my palm before applying.
Best Answer:I first purchased Keihl's BB cream in a store in the Atlanta airport. So, to answer your question the sales associate is the one that matched the color for me. I absolutely love the product. I have had skin cancer, so the fact that this BB cream has sf 50 is a huge plus for me. It, doesn't feel greasy like when you have a sunscreen on your face.
Will there be a color darker than medium? I'm a medium dark skin tone and get quite dark during the summer time. I use kiehls exclusively on my face (don't use foundation) and I'd love to have something to utilize for coverage!
A shopper on May 5, 2013
Best Answer:im pretty fair and i purchased the medium BB cream and its pretty dark. i think you will be ok.
The description says that there are 4 shades to choose from, but when I go to order there are only Light and Medium options. I have freckles but am not pale, would go with the 2nd option on a scale of 1 to 4. But I am confused since I only have 2 options when I should have 4? I read the reviews but no one really mentions their skin color. Anyone who has used it, please advise. Thanks!
A shopper on Apr 28, 2013
Best Answer:There is Fair, Light, Fair/Light, and Medium. You might need to try samples first to see what is best. The light colors range from pale to creamy to pinkish-light colored skin and the medium is pretty dark.
Best Answer:Not at all, but it's not matte either. It basically is like a tinted moisturizer with SPF that covers better than most and is actually good for your skin. Depending on how dry your skin is (or not), use powder to set...
No, this product does not have a shimmer or glitter. However, it does gives a very subtle "glow" to the complexion. It is very natural looking when worn correctly and gives a healthy, even brightness to the skin.
Best Answer:Neither is required to obtain the benefits of this product. However, a serum can be used as part of your daily regimen and if your skin is real dry an additional moisturizer is fine to use as well. Although, the BB Cream is a 3 in 1 product...a moisturizer, SPF protector and color cover. I love it!
is this product a matte finish or a smooth lustrous finish? I don't want a matte finish
A shopper on Jul 27, 2014
Best Answer:It's definitely not a matte finish. On it's own it's a smooth product. For me personally, I put this on after a light moisturizer, so it makes it a little more lustrous. It goes on smoothly, not sticky or chalky.
Best Answer:You can definitely use your normal cleanser or make-up remover. I use the make-up remover towlettes/cleansing cloths and it comes right off. I don't layer the BB Cream as I like the sheerness and use it almost like a tinted moisturizer. Hope this helps.
Do you offer a darker color? These all seem too light.
A shopper on Jul 19, 2013
Best Answer:I bought BB cream and I REALLY don't like it! I'd like to return it for a credit if you do that sort of thing. It is way too thick and cakey. Even when I thin it with moisturizer, I don't like the way it goes on. Also, it seems yellowish on my skin. But, the color is not the main problem, it's the texture and glueyness of it. Could never recommend it to anyone.
Do you put on moisturizer first before the BB cream? or is their a moisturizer built into the cream?
A shopper on Dec 12, 2013
Best Answer:Do not apply moisturizer before the BB Cream. The BB cream is quite moisturizing and has other skin care properties. This is an efficient way to apply 1 product that takes the place of serum, moisturizer, color corrector and SPF.
I do use additional moisturizer before I apply my BB cream. Because it is tinted, I feel it blends better if I already have a light moisturizer on. However, I think it could work without. It is a fantastic product!
Love this cream but, to answer your question, I have very dry skin and I prefer moisturizer beneath. If you like light moisturizer you will probably be fine without. Tint blends beautifully and wears well.
This is not a full coverage cream. I find it balances my skin tone while not really hiding anything. With that in mind, an olive tone is less important as your overall level of pigment in your skin. I have a light/pink tone so I went with Fair and my sister is light/olive with a bit darker tone so she went with Fair/Light and it worked for us. So target your overall pigment level-there really is not enough coverage here to be concerned about an underlying tone.
Best Answer:I was so hoping it would. But it doesn't. The weight is great, the SPF works wonderfully. But the tint, though it's the same I used with the tinted moisturizer doesn't do the job of its predecessor. Perhaps next time I may try a darker shade, but that usually isn't the answer. I still recommend it, but if you have dark spots you will need an extra concealer.
My understanding is that this product does replace the tinted moisturizer. I have been using this BB cream (light) for about a month and I am happy with the coverage and SPF. However, I live in a humid climate and this is not something I can/would wear on humid days. The product is thicker than the tinted moisturizer and it feels a little heavy on the skin for my taste. I will continue to use the tinted moisturizer or a different BB cream on those days where the dewpoint is uncomfortable. This is perfect for spring, fall and winter!
You will *love* it then! I am very happy with the results and the SPF really holds up. The coverage is really nice. It does tend to be a little on the darker side than other Kiehl's products in the same shade but it is not enough to require me to purchase a different shade. Others have had different results though. Enjoy!
Yes, it has a higher SPF. Feels about the same as the tinted moisturizer, maybe even better. I have very sensitive eyes and skin but have no issues with this product. More expensive, but I'm still feel it's worth it. A daily must have for me.
Best Answer:I found that I needed a moisturizer first. The BB cream is thick, I think, too heavy for me without moisturizing first. I wasn't especially fond of it although I use nothing but Kiehl's products. I ultimately returned it.
I have medium toned skin...Italian descent. Is the medium bb cream very dark?
A shopper on May 16, 2013
Best Answer:I originally got the medium and it was too dark for me. I thought it would work for the summer. My skin is not fair, but I guess it is light. I am a blue eyed blonde. I ended up ordering the fair/light and it is a much better match. I think the medium would probably work fine for you.
I have the LIGHT (S0926900) BB cream and I wanted to buy more but it doesn't match the shade of LIGHT that's on the website... Was the shade renamed after adding others to the lineup?
A shopper on Aug 7, 2017
Best Answer:I believe the color Light is still the same as always, but it just looks off on the computer screen. I use light in the summer when I have some more color and fair/light during the other seasons of the year.
Best Answer:No, which makes it easy on the skin, an I'm able to wear it everyday. It know I will be sweating and exposed to the sun at the same time I wear waterproof sun block which are very thick, pasty and greasy. BB cream fells great on.
I have malasma on my face and the best treatment it to avoid the sun 100%. I'm very grateful for the products.
Best Answer:Although it is best to wash your face prior to sleeping, I have fallen asleep with this product on my face. I have seen no problems because of it. The product evens out my skin and keeps my face looking clear and healthy.
do you still need to use moisturizer before applying this bb cream?
A shopper on May 19, 2016
Best Answer:You don't have to, however, because my skin gets fairly dry, especially in the winter, I need to use the Skin Rescuer daily, and I don't feel that the BB cream has that thick level of moisturizing that I need.
I have white skin tone, what shade should I choose to achieve a natural looking tint for my skin tone?
A shopper on Feb 14, 2015
Best Answer:my complexion is pale. Very pale. But I live in Hawai'i and there is no escaping the sun. I use multiple Kiehl products to protect my skin; their clear sunscreen, and always have on their ultra moisturizer with sunscreen and then I use the BB cream in Fair/Light. It's perfect. Not too heavy and with just the right coverage to help conceal those sun spots that have occurred due to pre-taking care of my skin days. It also has a nice scent; rather like coffee, but very slight.
Hello, Since my skin is very fair, I selected the lightest shade available. It is great with the wonderful benefit of sunscreen as well as lovely flawless coverage. I hope this is helpful for you. Very Satisfied Kiel's Customer
Hello, can you use this product in place of moisturizer, or on top of moisturizer? Additionally, will this make my rosacea flare up, or will it be gentle enough to keep my skin calm?
A shopper on Aug 26, 2014
Best Answer:Hi! I love this product; it goes on smoothly by itself but I DO use it over a moisturizer sometimes, also. I don't have rosacea so I can't answer that part of your question; however, it's very gentle and I will buy it again.
Best Answer:I put moisturizer and Kiehl's vitamin C cream, whatever it's called, on underneath. But then, I'm 67 and have dry skin. This works wonderfully for me as both a sunscreen and foundation. I love it and am on my second container.
Another thing about being 67 -- I have know idea what BB Cream is or means. It just suddenly started appearing on products,
Two questions. 1. What is the % of vitamin C? and 2. Is the bottle thick enough for the vitamin C not be be degraded by light?
A shopper on Oct 14, 2013
Best Answer:It doesn't specify the % of vitamin C on the container itself, so I'm unsure of that info. The container itself is solid and I don't believe light would effect the product inside, however, on the container it reads "protect the product in the container from excessive heat and direct sun.
I'm not sure about the % Vitamin C in the formulation but the bottle is opaque white plastic that should provide UV protection. I also keep my bottle in the cabinet just as a precaution, rather than leaving in sunlight.
Best Answer:Not exactly, there are actually 4 shades available, although I can't remember the 4th of the top of my head...but they do have fair, light and medium are the colors I found to be available. I use medium in the summer when I'm using my sunless tanner on my body and fair in the winter when my skin is normal.
Best Answer:This cream is light weight and does not provide full coverage. I always went with the shade slightly lighter than my skin tone, and It worked out great . If you are planning to purchase other Kiehls products you could pick a couple different colors as samples when you check out and then you can try a few first without worrying about picking the wrong color.
Best Answer:I consider myself fair, and I have freckles. But because I have dark brown hair I chose the second swash choice. I liked the color and it was just enough of a tint to even out my skin tone between the freckles. This is a great product for sun protection, love it!
is this completely oil free? I see that it says mineral oil free, but is that completely oil free?
A shopper on Nov 16, 2016
Best Answer:I would say it's not Completely oil -free. It's the same texture as if you are putting on sun screen. It's this creamy, sort of slight oil finish. It does not make your face look oil, sort of a dewy glow depending on your skin. If you have dry skin, it will probably be great, if you have super oil skin - you will get shiny. Even though I get a little dewy or shiny - after awhile of using this product my skin gets dry and I need to exfoliate more often before using it again.
do you still need to apply moisturizerbefore applying Kiehl's BB cream?
A shopper on May 19, 2016
Best Answer:You don't need to - it depends on if your skin is dry or oily. I put on a little moisturizer during the winter because my skin is dry (and I love to moisturize!) but in the summer I just put it straight on
Best Answer:If there's a drastic change in your skin tone during the summer then the light may be the better option. However, I will say that I use the light shade regularly. And even when I'm pale and frost-bitten in the winter to when I am tan from the sun in the summer, it always blends perfectly well.
Best Answer:There were only two shades available on line when I purchased BB Cream -- light and medium. I bought one of each to see which was best. Right now, when I'm relatively tan, the medium was fine. Like it very much.
I notice that the bb cream in the picture called "skin tone correcting & beautifying bb cream sunscreen " but product name shows "Actively Correcting and Beautifying with SPF 50 " . Is it the same product? The picture doesnt mark PA+++, is it really has PA+++?
I bought Kiehl's actively correcting and beautifying bb cream while traveling and I would like to reorder it. However, the bottle does not say what color my tube is. On the back, it says "natural" but that is not a color option listed on the website. What color should I order if my previous tube was labeled "natural"? Thanks!
65 years old - skin is dry but otherwise in good condition. A few age spots, no rosacea, use very little foundation. I do have freckles - as a child and young adult I was a strawberry blonde, green eyes, now hair is light to medium blonde. Which shade would work best?
Got a sample, and while I loved the texture and coverage, the SMELL was BRUTAL, almost metallic like a copper penny. Was that just the sample or does the cream actually smell like this in the full size?
I would love to order one BB but how to decide on the shade? any other closer photo on the different tints Or if you number them from light to dark next to each of your Reference? I know i Probably would want not the darkest but the one before??? Please help
I used to get the tinted moisturizer in "light". Can anyone tell me whether the the BB cream "light" will be comparable? I'd rather the cream be too light than too dark on me. Thanks, m
A shopper on Jul 14, 2013
Best Answer:Hi M.,
Personally I've never used the tinted moisturizer, but have Irish skin, so I use the light in the winter and the medium in the summer while using a sunless tanner on my body. These work well for me. Here's a link to the Kiehls site that shows pictures of different women in each color...fair, fair/light, light and medium. I couldn't get the hyperlink to work when I pasted it, but you should be able to copy and paste if it doesn't come through.
Also, there are a couple of videos you can watch if you go the the product page on the Kiehls webiste. Great product...I have normal to oily skin, so I don't even have to use a moisturizer in the summer. Hope this helps! Good luck!
