Rated 1 out of 5 by from It used to be a good product Guys this was your star product!! Why would you mess up something that already works and give you high volume of sales??? You need to make better business decisions.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This Product Has Been Ruined This was my go-to facial moisturizer with SPF-15 and the formula was excellent and most importantly, non-greasy. With this new formulation which is SPF-20, it is extremely greasy, smells like sun-tan lotion, and I will not use it again! PLEASE, go back to your old formulation then return this product to the market!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Why Kiehl's Why? I used to be a regular purchaser of 5 Kieh's products but they have changed or discontinued 4 of them. - The men's lavender herbal toner was the best....it's gone. - The Facial Fuel with SPF 15 is gone and changed with this SPF 20 version which isn't nearly as good - The Facial Fuel Anti-Wrinkle Cream was awesome...its gone - The Facial Fuel bronzer was nice...its gone - At least you haven't gotten rid of the Facial Fuel Energizing Scrub. That is the only product i will buy from you now. it would be nice if you kept what people liked and listened to your clients.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from They screwed with it Used to be great at SPF15 then they charged it to SPF20. It’s now greasy and doesn’t absorb. Horrible. Way to screw up a great product. Please bring back the old one!
Date published: 2019-12-07
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bring back the old formula! Give the people what they want... the old formula and a reply that is not the auto response. The consistency is way off and while the SPG increase from 15 to 20 could be a reason, it doesn’t explain why the non-SPF lost its best attribute which is its application feel. Hopefully the smaller tube is out of stock because the formula is being changed. When this many comments are consistent, might be time for a change.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This is HORRIBLE, I have tried it twice. WHY did you screw uo my favorite moisturizer??? I have been a LOYAL client for over 12 years. I recommend you to all of my male friends. Your SPF 15 was the best of best. First, you made us wait for over 6 months for the new ans (less) improved 20 spf version. I bought a large bottle, and immediately hated it. It is so different. Greasy, does not absorb, and smells. I thought maybe it was a bad batch(actually hoping). So I bought a second bottle. Same turn out. I can not believe you ruined this product. By the way, I saw your responses, which is basically telling us to now buy more products from them so it feels like the "old version". Seriously? Your answer is buy 2 products instead of 1?? Wow.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bring back the old formulation I’ve been using this product for years and the previous formulation with 15 SPF was amazing and would rate 5 stars. I shave my head so a moisturizer with SPF is important to me. Unfortunately, this formulation is greasy, doesn’t absorb or rub in like the previous or non SPF versions of Facial Fuel and leaves my skin looking shiny and feeling greasy. I contacted customer support to inquire why the change and they could not share any information. Help! Bring back the 15 SPF and I will buy again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from New Formula Sucks I said it, the new formula sucks. What was once the easiest part of my daily routine has turned into a daily let down. The new formula leaves your hands sticky, face shinier than chrome, and your face wanting more. I used the old formula for 10+ years, with not a thought in the world that I’d need to stockpile the original product. Now, after running out, I feel like I’m in a post apocalyptic world. If you want your face to feel like cheap drug store men’s brand moisturizer, this is the product for you!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bring back the old formula The old formula made the best moisturizer on the market and is 100 times better than this new one, please bring it back!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bring back old formula Like many others reviewed. The new formula is terrible. Greasy, shiny, and feels like a film is left behind after applying. You lost another customer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bring back old formula Why change a popular, great product for this oily mess?? What where you thinking Kihel?
Date published: 2019-11-14
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great even for oily skin I've never wanted to apply spf lotion on my face due to oily skin. But this Facial Fuel SPF20 made a huge difference for my face and neck. Now my face is soft and protected from the sun. This is a must lotion to apply before you get out the door.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best SPF Sunscreen Yet I was hesitant to try this because many reviews express disappointment at this not being as similar to the non-SPF version as they had hoped. Yes, I love the non-SPF version too, but this is just different! I’ve tried countless moisturizers with built-in SPF and this is the ONLY ONE that doesn’t feel greasy or leave a white sheen. I’ve got this on auto-refill! The only improvement I could hope for would be to see a tinted, physical sunscreen version of this.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Why, why, why? Like many others, I had been using the old 15 spf formula for years. It was light, non-greasy and it absorbed well. It was perfect for daily use. This new formula falls way short. It’s great that you’ve increased the spf, but you got rid of everything I loved about the original product. Now I’m actually using it less, which means despite the higher spf, I’m less protected. Will have to find an alternative quick.
Date published: 2019-11-05
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Look elsewhere...the reformulation is horrible Feels much less like lotion and much more like sunscreen. Greasier, thinner, and not as fragrant. I will be switching to a new daily moisturizer. Please, Kiehls, bring back the old formulation.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from HORRIBLE NEW FORMULA Terrible greasy formula change. I have used FF for years and will not purchase it any longer. Disappointed!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good product that became bad I’ve been using this product for years. Even after reading the bad reviews I decided to give this new version a chance. I was specifically excited that the SPF is higher, which means more protection. Since I live in Florida, this is a huge concern for me. I used the new cream for 2 weeks, and with time I realized that the product just isn’t the same. It leaves the skin shiny and greasy, and it doesn’t absorb well....it just doesn’t feel right. I got a sample from a different brand and the comparison made me realize that this new version is just a bad product. I’m an avid kiehls lover, and use many of their products, from soaps to creams. I will return this one that I bought to the store and will try other ones with SPF. Kiehls family -PLEASE REVIEW THIS CREAM FORMULA ASAP.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from From best to worst I used the SPF 15 product for years, which had a fantastic, silky texture. Then the new formulation was introduced and it’s terrible. An oily greasy disaster. I’ve seen responses to similar reviews stating the reason is the change to SPF 20. Really? No significant difference in sun protection, but completely ruined a good product.
Date published: 2019-09-16
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Extremely greasy Had used SPF15 product for years prior to reformulation... now product is extremely greasy and leaves my face shiny for the entire day. No longer an everyday product.
Date published: 2019-09-11
Rated 1 out of 5 by from New Formula is useless Goes on oily and leaves your skin feeling greasy all day. Also, doesn't seem to protect any more than the 15SPF it replaced. Either look for the old blue formula or look for a different product.
Date published: 2019-09-05
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad new formula I have been using the old version of this for many years. Bought 2 large bottles of this to re-stock and unfortunately received the new formula. This is so oily. It is unusable. It is unfortunate to ruin such a good product.
Date published: 2019-08-31
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't bother Echo every other person that has hated the new formula. I thought it was just me when I bought the large bottle because the previous formula was amazing. This is not worth your money and much better products on the market.
Date published: 2019-08-29
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible product The new formula is greasy and make my face looks oily. Can you stop changing a good product? You already discontinued a hair styling product and now this? I won’t buy this product again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing This was my first Kiehl’s Purchase after being a loyal Clinique user. The spf came highly recommended. At the counter at sak’s they had a tester but it was the older spf 15. I tried it and liked it. This purchase is not like the tester. Very greasy and shiny. Poor introduction to the Kiehl brand. I won’t be trying any other products and this will go to the back of the cabinet.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Please bring back Facial Fuel SPF 15 Like all other reviewers, I would desperately like Khiel's to bring back SPF15. The new SPF20 formulation goes on greasy and sticky, two things that never happened with the old formulation. Since the old formulation was discontinued, I have had to do trial and error with other products and have not found anything that is as good. Please bring back SPF15!
Date published: 2019-08-18
Rated 1 out of 5 by from SPF 20 This new formula feels great at first. Unfortunately it leaves a shiny layer all over the skin. Face looks greasy all day. Hopefully they will go back to the old SPF 15
Date published: 2019-08-14
Rated 1 out of 5 by from New Formulation is awful I recently purchased the Facial Fuel SPF 20 and it is awful. It is greasy, heavy and doesn’t absorb like the old formula. Why mess with a good thing?!? I’ve been using this for years at the recommendation of my dermatologist. I am going to suggest that they stop recommending it due to the changes. Please, please, please go back to the old formula. I’m honestly considering returning this because it just does not leave my face feeling clean and protected.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Honestly disappointed with the new version I have been using the old SPF 15 version of the facial fuel moisturizer for several years now. I have always loved it and gone through multiple tubes of it over the years. It was always light, absorbed quickly, smelled nice, and didn't make my skin look greasy. Now, with the apparently new formula, none of those things is true anymore. It smells like your typical sun screen and is WAY more greasy now. It doesn't absorb as quickly anymore, and gives my face an oily shiny throughout the day. I have a brand new large tube of it and honestly don't think I will use it anymore. A waste of money and Kiehls customer service wasn't very helpful. Guess it's time to find a new moisturizer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The "Reformulation" is a true downgrade on a once great product Unfortunately, Kiehl's has yet again taken a tried and true product and reformulated it to make it better. Ostensibly, it seems easy enough for the moisturizing properties (consistency, texture, effect) to stay the same while increasing the SPF. Wrong! You now get the protection of SPF 20 (instead of 15) - but with a cheap, suntan lotion-style consistency that will leave you shiny and anything but refreshingly moisturized. Kiehl's doesn't seem to listen to consumers, but if they did, this would be one instance to admit a shortcoming, and revert back to the old formula. If the SPF 20 cannot be achieved with the old formula, then keep it at 15. It was a far superior product. However, I can easily think of 10 products that Kiehl's has discontinued over the years since I was introduced to the line. This is just the latest casualty. At this point, I'm down to one Kiehl's product as part of my daily routine, I've had to gradually transition to other brands every time Kiehl's decides to reformulate or discontinue a product. Despite the focus on heritage, I never heard of Kiehl's before 2002, and they had a great men's lineup. But that line has gradually contracted with each passing year. For me, it has dwindled to just one usable product. They have to have data that supports this decline in usage by men. Good luck with your strategy Kiehl's, I wish I understood your business model.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from EXTREMELY Disappointed with New SPF 20 Like the Majority of the Reviewers I reluctantly purchased your SPF20 formula since I could no longer get the SPF15. It is mindboggling that your product developers would mess with a top-selling successful staple like the men's Facial Fuel Moisturizer SPF15!! I've been a loyal customer since the early 80's when I moved to NYC and your original store was just a few blocks away. I've tried several different aftershave products over the years and have been a satisfied user of the Facial Fuel line for at least the last 5 years. I assume most guys like myself aren't interested in finding a new skincare regimen, especially if he's been using a trusted one for ages. Your new SPF20 formula makes all kinds of false claims...and bottom line it makes my face and forehead shine. The product is a downgrade in terms of texture, absorption, smell, and performance. I seriously wonder what improvement the product developers were going for other than increasing the SPF! Will it take losing a large percentage of your loyal men's base before you bring back the previous SPF 15 formula? This isn't the first time a favorite men's staple product was changed without much concern for customer backlash. It's very arrogant to assume a loyal Kiehls customer should be expected to just roll with it every time you decide to alter or discontinue their favorite product! My faith in Kiehls has tanked...How can you expect a guy to remain loyal to a company that isn't being loyal in return?!

Asked by: Anonymous
Combination of Blue Astringent Herbal Lotion and this moisturizer work amazingly for me. I'm a mid-30's man, who has had acne for most of his life. Using the astringent has reduced acne, reduced shaving rash, reduced the size of my pores, and made my skin feel tighter. I then use this moisturizer to keep my face protected through the day. I've been using this combo for about 3 years now, and couldn't be happier.
