Rated 2 out of 5 by Morgs NOT a sunscreen
While this is a nice facial moisturizer, it should NOT be used as the sole means of sun protection. I have no idea why, but this formula is very sub-par to Kiehl's other sun protection products (like the Facial Fuel). I wore this while snowboarding, and my face was very burned. I also wore this at the beach, and even after constantly reapplying, my face burned. (I had to keep applying it because it is NOT water/sweat proof.) Just be careful when you're in the sun. Otherwise, an effective moisturizer.

This stuff is the worst. It goes on SUPER greasy. When I put this on, I get asked why I'm sweating. Also, I put this on before going out in the sun. It's an SPF30 and my face was burned within an hour. Not good. Avoid this stuff at all cost unless you want to look like a greasy lobster!
Rated 4 out of 5 by HoytGirl A great SPF moisturizer
This is a great SPF moisturizer but, I do feel it takes awhile to absorb. I have found that once I cleanse, tone, serum, & then moisturize I need to wait about 5-10 minutes before applying make-up. Overall I love it, just wish it would absorb a little faster.

I have sensitive skin, and most sunscreen products make my face feel like it's on fire. I wear "real" sunscreen during the summer or when I am in the sun for any duration, but for dead of winter or when I'm going to be indoors much of the day, I yearned for a moisturizer with sunscreen that wouldn't burn and adequately moisturized. A friend recommended this and I am so happy. My dry skin is happy, and no burn. Yay! Others have mentioned a greasy, shiny effect but I am not bothered by that.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Pablo Waited for SPF 30 but now it's too Oily
I have used the SPF 15 version for several years and my only complaint was not enough SPF. I would ask at stores if that was in the works. When SPF 30 finally arrived I was very happy but now find it is so oily and shiny. I recently ventured out and tried Shiseido's SPF 50 but it was not moisturizing and was just a sunscreen (but a very matte one!)
KIEHL'S WILL YOU PLEASE FIND A SOLUTION TO THIS OTHERWISE PERFECT PRODUCT?

For years I used Clinique's Super Defense SPF 25 for Dry Combination skin. It was perfect, I was happy, my skin looked awesome and it was perfect under makeup or on it's own. Then they changed the formula. And I suffered as others did. This is as close as I've come to a replacement. This product is moisturizing (though slightly greasy) and offers good protection. It works best under my makeup - slightly greasy on it's own. Overall, I'm happy with it. I've used up my first bottle and will purchase a second.

Rated 4 out of 5 by JulieA Great for SPF, but a bit shiny
I have been using the Kiehl's SPF 30 Moisturizer ever since I noticed they carried it - before, I was using the SPF 15, but was so glad to see a higher SPF. I'm fairly pale, so I wear SPF almost every day, even just going to and from work. I saw my dermatologist in October, and he said my skin tone was really great - not even a freckle! (Granted, that's not everyone's goal, but it goes to show that the SPF 30 really works well.)
One downside though - this moisturizer will make you fairly shiny, especially if, like me, you have combination/oily skin. This doesn't particularly bother me, since I can throw some powder on, and I'd rather be moisturized and protected than dry, but if I have an event, or know some photos will be taken, I'll skip the SPF 30 Moisturizer and go for an oil-free one.
I wish Kiehl's would do an oil-free SPF 30 lotion - it would be ideal! But for an SPF moisturizer, Kiehl's is great. It'll be a little shiny, but it will do the job very well, AND it's incredibly gentle. I've never had any stinging, even around my eyes, and with an SPF, that is hard to pull off. I would definitely recommend this moisturizer for daytime use, but not for occasions where you want to look matte.
