I use the Rare Earth Pore Refining Tonic before I use the Abyssine Facial Cream and it seems to work fine. It just makes a nice matte surface so that the cream isn't just sitting on top of my skin feeling like an extra layer.

It did not clog my pores, there is only a small amount of the rare earth material in this. The other products in this line do have more of the material though and they do leave a bit of residue on your face.
