Apricot Kernel Oil is extracted from apricot kernels and has a very high Vitamin E content (aiding fast absorption) and is a trygliceride composed of 75% oleic acid and 20% linoleic acid, and unsaturated fatty acids esterified with glycerin - similar to avocado oil and sesame oil. Found to be highly compatible with the skin. Apricot Kernel Oil moisturizes and softens skin while helping retain clarity and suppleness.
This "vegetal coral" is an unusual, mineral-rich red algae with the unusual ability to produce a gel which forms a self-defensive, calcified shell from minerals found in sea water. It has been shown to thicken the stratum corneum layer of skin and to help reinforce the moisture barrier function of the skin.
From the moment I put the cream on I immediately notice the difference. A youthful, glowing skin. Apr 9, 2012
I'm more perplexed about the sourcing of Abyssine 657, said to be synthesized by some thermal vent-dwellind deep sea creature. Would like to know the sustainability of such a product, and whether Kiehl's uses the naturally derived form or a synthesized one. Nov 19, 2012
I've used this cream for about 4 years and until about a year ago it worked well. I'm now 56. I liked that it had Apricot Kernel oil which does well on my skin--I have fairly smooth skin with deeper wrinkles on my forehead between my eyes. This was great overall on my skin as it kept it smooth and fresh looking. It has a light clean smell and very faint. It is thick so alot goes a long way. It is not greasy.
I've since graduated to the Rosa Artica because I have Sjogren's Syndrome which means I don't produce enough moisture for my body. I have to constantly hydrate and take large doses of fish oil. Both the Abyssine and Rosa work better than anything else I've tried--the Rosa works a bit better. I apply argan oil underneath the creme and this usually lasts about 6-8 hours under makeup.
Hope this helps. Aug 23, 2012
THERE IS NO SCENT, IF IT DOES IT HAS NOT BOTHERED ME. I CAN

I use several Kiehls products. Another of my favorites is the Calendula Toner. Jul 5, 2012
