HEPES, or Hydroxyethylpiperazine Ethane Sulfonic Acid, is a chemical buffer which is widely used in cell culture to maintain physiological pH. This amino-sulfonic derivative helps to improve skin and limits roughness.

Sodium Hyaluronate is the sodium salt of Hyaluronic Acid. It is used as a moisturizing agent, viscosifier and emulsifier. Jamy K:Do not combine! Retin A is a prescribed topical medicine. It also works by sloughing off layers of the skin however at a much higher rate. Combining the 2 or even switching back and forth may cause inflammation along with frustration. I understand the desire to exfoliate, you may want to use a mild facial cleanser in the mornings that contains AHA or BHA along with a soft facial brush or pad using circular outward motions. always remember to hydrate and use suncreen. if your skin needs to calm down i do recommend the calendula/marigold toner that kielhs has.May 2, 2013

Jamy K:I wouldn't recommend using both products at once as part of your nightly regimen, you may tend to over stimulate your oil/sebum production and then may lead to nice rosy patches where you didn't want to draw attention, your face. use the peel on clean skin, allow to absorb, follow with your moisturizer. think of it a a vacation day/night from your BP. If you're like me and experience oily skin I also recommend changing your pillow case frequently. I personally use cotton or linen and change them every 2 days so i'm not sleeping on the same surface. also my face cloth i change 3 times a week.May 2, 2013
