Glycerin is a by-product of soap manufacturing and is a clear, syrupy liquid, usually derived from vegetable oil and obtained by adding alkalies to fats and fixed oils. It is a solvent humectant and emollient in many skin care products, as it absorbs moisture from the air and thereby helps products retain their moisture. It improves the spreadability of products and has definite skin moisturizing benefits.

L-Ascorbic Acid, also known as Pure Vitamin C, is a highly efficacious antioxidant known for its powerful ability to improve the appearance of skin aging. Pure Vitamin C is essential for collagen synthesis and provides powerful antioxidant protection from skin damaging free-radicals.

barbara p: For dark spots I highly recommend Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution. I have definitely seen a difference in the dark spots near my eyes; I use it all over my face right after washing and find that I do not need a moisturizer! I also use it on my hands and it works well there, too. Product is not thick, heavy or greasy and has a nice "slip" to it. Am on my third bottle and will keep on buying it. Aug 3, 2012

Michele S: I use the concentrate in the morning in this manner. I cleanse my skin, use a toner, and then apply the strength-line reducing concentrate. Fifteen to thirty minutes later I apply Kiehl's Creme D'Elegance Repairateur. If I am going out in the sun, I then apply some make-up base that contains a SPF15. I have been using the concentrate for over a year and am pleased with it. May 11, 2012

Rosalind M: I often use this alone during the day as it gives my normal/combination skin a nice finish. I don't use foundation, so the quality of my skin is important to me. I use the Midnight Recovery every night, and if my skin feels dry, I use it during the day as well. I have used the Midnight Recovery under the Line Reducing Concentrate, and that seems to produce a nice finish during the day as well... Now that the weather is warmer, dry skin isn't so much of an issue for me. If you have not purchased the Midnight Eye Cream, do try it. Totally amazing, and great for under eye shadows and puffiness. Kate Lankford D: BUY this product, it is the best. This is my go-to skin care product for anti-aging. I recommend it to EVERYONE and you notice a difference.

I do wear a cream on top mostly b/c this does not have SPF in it. However, at times I do need to alternate days when I wear the additional lotion - some days my skin feels fine, some days it feels too heavy to have both. I would recommend a light cream on top with SPF. Apr 11, 2013

susan s: I have been using this product for many years, but I am 56. I don't imagine at 23 you have many wrinkles. At your age, I used other products from Kiehls and I have always used moisturizer.

At your age, I would suggest that you consult with the Kiehls' staff for the proper moisturizer --- because it is important for your skin to be cared for properly. Mar 25, 2013

In my 30s I started to make a concious effort to take care of my skin by avoiding the sun or using sunscreen and keeping it hydrated by what I eat and drink. Juliette D: 23 is not too young to start using it. It helps to prevent fine lines and wrinkles and well as get rid of already existing. It also helps to even out skin tone and redness for people with fair skin. Just make sure if you use it during the day, you put on sunscreen, or at least a moisturizer with sunscreen in it. Melissa L: I would not use this for pore reduction - this targets fine lines. Use the Rare Earth line to focus on pore reduction. I use the mask every week to help minimize and remove black heads. You can use it on crow's feet and, since the product spreads from the heat on your face, it gravitates to the eye area but not in full strength. I hope this helps. BTW, I love this product. I've also found this product works best when I apply it first thing after washing my face. I leave it on for 10 minutes and then apply moisturizer. I recently traveled outside of the country for 2 weeks and forgot to bring this product along. After 10 days I couldn't wait any longer so I found a mall that had a Kiehl's store and purchased some - my skin looked so much brighter. I also notice more elasticity and that sought after glow. I then apply moisturizer and let it soak in for a few minutes, When I begin to apply foundation on 'spots' (not total coverage), and smooth in with foundation brush or clean sponge, the line reducing concentrate begins to "ball up" until I am down to bare skin.
