Our Original Musk Oil is believed to have been created in the 1920's at the "Kiehl Apothecary." Discovered there in a vat labeled "Love Oil" in the late 50's, Kiehl's signature scent was reintroduced to our patrons in 1963.

I've used Musk Essence Oil for over 20 years daily...my friends know this is the "go to for a gift" for me. No, I do not think they smell the same and I simply don't know why when it is suppose to be the same product. I want mine in the bottle even though the roller would be more convenient. Now, I don't need the convenience to carry with me daily since morning application and the musk is on all day and night, one reason I love it so. ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PRODUCT, am a entertainer that travels world wide and it doesn't matter what country I am in people love "MY SCENT". :)

Yes, I do believe the scent smells the same, it's the same perfumed oil. I wish the rollerball were refillable. I think the spray smells a little different than the oil. It still smells great, just not as lush or something. The only issue I have with the rollerball is that it doesn't seem to deliver much product. In fact, I thought the first one I ever bought was defective! I've come to the realization that it's just not the greatest delivery system, though it is portable, I always keep one in my purse.

No I do not .....for 40 year musk old is the only scent I have ever used. When they came out with the roller application I was weary but had to buy it because the bottles were no longer available. I was very unhappy with the roller bottle, lucky the bottles came back. Only 1/4 of the one roller bottle have was ever used, I not ever happy with it. I thank Kiehl's that they started selling the bottles again and hope I never have to look back at the roller issues.

No, I do not. I have been using Kiehl's Musk Oil every morning after shower/shaving since 1975. I have continued to search for the original bottles, despite being given the roller ball and other products fro relatives and friends. I truly hope you will continue to produce this product. I continue to be complimented regularly on the clean fresh smell. Thank you.

Yes I do, I think the difference is that you can get more out to apply on you from the bottle than you do from the roller.
I do love the bottle better than the roller. I also bought the body wash and the lotion and I get so many compliments about the way I smell when I wear it all together. I am very happy with Kiehl's musk products! Jan 19, 2013

I've our purchased the oil, rollerball and spray and on e they dry down they all smell the same... That lovely warm musk that you can only find in Kiehls musk. The lotion is divine too! I use it before the oil and it seems to prolong the scent. Go for it!

No I don't. I prefer smell of rollerball applicator. However I do not think rollerball applicator allows enough to be applied. it seems very short-lived. Musk Oil in the bottle is not as sweet smelling as rollarball but stays on longer.

There is no comparison. Kiehl's is the original and by far the best. I have been using this since it was first introduced and have always recieved compliments. It is not overpowering like othe so called musk fragrences. A small amount goes a long way and lasts for the whole day. Just pure musk with no undertones of other fragrences. You will love it!!!

Musk Essence Oil has more staying power than other musk products. Although I have used Cody Wild Musk Oil and like it, I think that Musk Essence Oil will be pleasing because of its staying power. Additionally, the bottle lasts longer because of the concentration. You won't be disappointed!!

I think it smells similar. Kiehl's is a bit stronger, but I have found that this does not last on my skin. Perhaps it's just my chemistry. It smells strong at first, but fades quickly on me. I still like it though.

I am a former user of Cody Wild Musk oil/musk lover. I love Kiehl's musk. It's a lot richer, if that makes sense. It makes the Cody seem like it was watered down. If you like musk a lot, then you will love it.

When compared to Cody Wild Musk Oil, this musk oil has a more earthy fragrance. Cody Wild Musk is lighter in fragrance but this musk lasts longer.

It's very close, if not the same. It has just been recently made available again after a disasterous - In my opinion - re-formulation as. Roll on product. This is a superior product to the Roll-on. Might not be up to the 70's version in quality and essence but close to the 90's and 00's. All in all, best being offered.

I'm not sure if this is the original formula from the 1970's since I only recently started wearing this scent. However, before purchasing, I read a ton of reviews from buyers who seem to believe it is the same classic scent they've always loved. Hope this helps!
