I was very pleasantly surprised when I tried this. After reading the reviews, I was prepared for the absolute worst. Although I never tried the old recipe of SPF Facial Fuel before Kiehls made it UVA/UVB broad spectrum, I can't say that this is a bad product by any means.
No, it doesn't have that Facial Fuel scent we all love; however, I found that it did not have that typical sunscreen smell, in fact I think it has no scent at all. It goes on easily and is not greasy or oily. I can have oily skin but this did not make me feel greasy, have a shine or break out. It didn't seem too heavy or pore clogging, and absorbed quickly and lightly.
The SPF works great and in my opinion this is a great, lightweight daily sunscreen moisturizer that isn't heavy and protects from the sun's damaging rays.
There was no way that I was going to buy this after reading the reviews, but once I tried a sample, I knew it was the right product for me and I'm happy with what it does.

This new formulation has a bad smell, that is reminiscent of the cheap copper tone or bananboat sunscreens. It's also thicker and whiter. They need to reformulate this with something different to take the smell out or to replace that smell with something better.

how many negative reviews of this new formula will it take for a response from the company? should i start a change.org campaign? the new spf facial fuel is thick and disgusting! it smells and feels like cr*p! are we to believe that broad spectrum is so much better? so i was putting on non broad spectrum for 10+ years and somehow not protecting myself sufficiently. why do companies do this? i don't see any reviews from years back complaining that the facial fuel needed to feel like thick, smelly banana boat cream! someone call me the waaambulance

I've never had an issue with this product. Only thing I've noticed is the slight texture difference than the original and the different scent. I like how this is still a light textured product and protects my skin during the day.
I agree for those who are in the sun for a prolonged period of time would benefit from a reapplication of the product, or a product like Super Fluid UV Defense on top.
None the less, its a really great product and I wouldn't let others make the decision for you. Get a sample - Try it out first!

I was preparing to order the Facial Fuel SPF15 since I'm about out of my last 6.8oz tube. However, after reading the reviews and discovering that the formula has been changed, I will wait for a response from Kiehl's. Meanwhile, looks like I'm shopping for another facial moisturizer with SPF.
Rated 4 out of 5 by M0851 Not for very oily skin.
I have very oily skin, but I still chose the bottle of Facial Fuel over the Oil Eliminator.
It's very clear that the Oil Eliminator works much better at destroying the oil around my forehead and T-Zone. That said, the Facial Fuel has a great consistency, and spreads very evenly across the skin. It's not a very good sunscreen, and while the moisturizer needs to be applied twice a day, sunscreen needs to be applied nearly six times a day- Kiehl's should look in to this issue.
I haven't had any issues with smell- I think it smells fine. It's weird, but I'm okay with it.
I'm probably going to go back to the oil eliminator, but I think this product would work much better for skin that experiences little oil.

Please bring back the original formula or something close to it. This formula DOES indeed SMELL awful. I was so happy with what I had, but seeing that it has been over a year and you HAVE NOT listened to us - your customers, it seems unlikely that you will make us a better SPF version of this awesome moisturizer. Please help us here. Thanks for reading.
Rated 2 out of 5 by KHewlett Too heavy, makes my face sweaty
I've used the regular non-SPF Facial Fuel moisturizer for a while now & absolutely love it. My last visit to my local Kiehl's store the lady persuaded me to try this product which I figured was a smart idea to protect my fair skin. Personally I don't think the smell is too bad, although there is definitely a light scent of sunscreen, but it wasn't strong enough to bother me. After using this product for a few weeks alternating with the regular non-SPF Facial Fuel I noticed this product was making me noticeably sweat. I'd pat my forehead with a cloth but it made no difference. This moisturizer is too heavy & doesn't allow my skin to breathe causing the gross sweating. I've tried using a minimal amount, giving ample time after showering to dry & cool off - no difference. Disappointed. Glad I bought the smallest bottle, it will be the last one.
