Glycerin is a by-product of soap manufacturing and is a clear, syrupy liquid, usually derived from vegetable oil and obtained by adding alkalies to fats and fixed oils. It is a solvent humectant and emollient in many skin care products, as it absorbs moisture from the air and thereby helps products retain their moisture. It improves the spreadability of products and has definite skin moisturizing benefits.
Panthenol is a penetrating moisturizer which absorbs into the skin and hair and is converted into Pantothenic Acid, a B complex vitamin. Assists skin care products in retaining water and also absorbs water from the air, aiding in skin and hair moisturization.
Wheat Germ Oil, extracted from the germ of the wheat kernel, is an emollient with antioxidant properties due to its high, natural Vitamin E content. It also contains Lecithin and a high percentage of essential fatty acids that are vital for healthy skin. It is also used as a natural preservative.

In my opinion, this is the best product Kiehls has by far!! I wear it overnight and the next morning my skin is moisturized and looking great, almost glowing. The dullness & dry spots are gone! Good for all seasons. Its a little heavy tho, so I suggest wearing it overnight.

I got sample of this cream from when i bought my favorite olive shampoo, so i thought i'd give it a try. My skin is usually not problematic, but the past 3 months, i've been experiencing random rashes on my chin and cheeks, since I stratch it, it became visibly rough. I tried so many products from over the counter to expensive regime of skincare, none of them make any difference (i was thinking perhaps because i haven't tried long enough). So one night i decided to open the pathenol cream sample and try it. The next morning, my chin are smooth!!!!!!!!!!! it was unbelievable!! over 1 night!!!....i tend to have dry skin (not flaky, just feel tight after i wash my face), this cream is not sticky or create unnecessary shine, it blends well with my make up....the only thing it doesn't have is SPF protection, but i'm wearing powder that has SPF so it's all good!..Kiehl's is so generous with the sample, that 1 sample actually lasted me almost 3 days!! so it's good enough to be able to tell if it really works for you or not..Thank you Kiehl's
